Kittens.

Dreamt that I was working in a store run by my least favorite boss (I've had bad ones, but she took the cake). The store was maybe a discount store combined with a bakery and pet store? As I was about to leave for the night, I saw that there were two glass aquariums filled with stagnant green water. In the tanks, there were live rodents, struggling to live. Mice, squirrels, maybe some rats. I knew that I was not allowed to interfere, but I couldn't leave them. At that point, I woke up and forced myself back to sleep to save the little creatures. When I was back in the dream, I started to scoop the animals out and put them into dry cages, hoping they would get along all right.

Then I noticed that there were newborn kittens in the water! I got out one after the other, until I had six kittens on my lap. I found a basket, which turned into an animal carrier. Suddenly, their mother appeared and began to care for them. I was so happy.
